The engine bay is going to be insanely tight with the A/C setup. I decided to remove the CMCV valves off the back of the Gen3 coyote. What is the CMCV? The Gen3 Coyote has some actuators at the back of the intake called Charge Motion Control Valves (CMCV). These control the short/long runners in the intake. These valves add some torque in the lower RPM bands, and open up for upper-RPM runs. These are fine for your everyday Mustang or F-150 drivers. But in the Cobra they’re not going to add much of a difference since the car has to be tuned.
notice the ‘snails’ on the back of the intake – those are the CMCVs
The CMCV valves take up a tremendous amount of space on the back of the motor ~ 5 inches by measurement. Removal is as simple as (6) T-20 screws and removing 2 circlips. After removing these valves, lock the runners in the ‘open’ position to allow maximum airflow.
Some use zip ties to lock the runners open, but I opted for some $15 billet plates. The billet plates fit perfectly around the lever that are held with the circlips. The other end of the billet reused a T-20 screw from the removal.
