I’ll be honest, the dash has been a lot of work. Tons of wiring, and any new items creates new needs for more wires. I wanted to support the dash a bit more with the under tray panel from Replica Parts which gives more attach points for the CF dash. Obviously since the dash panel is designed for a ‘standard’ metal dash from FFR, this needs customizing.
I found that the panel was designed for earlier MKIV models which has a different steering boss mount and this panel is much too high for the newer MKIVs. You can see in the pic below, I have about 1.75″ of gap. I may trim off this section of the panel, or create a panel to drill/screw into for added support.
Additional trimming is needed for the inertia switch to get a few fingers up in there to reset (hopefully never needed!). Also, the placement of the Wilwood EPB box needed some trimming. Yet another “thing” that isn’t part of the standard build.
All these cuts are pretty rough, and will need some massaging to get them smoother and put some trim on them so nobody cuts fingers in the future.
I also ran the ECU wiring, mocked up the fuse panel mount, and also mounted the OBD port.
A little mockup of the dash and center console – still a lot to do!
