Waiting for the ECU to arrive has been a patience test. Ultimately it needs to get shipped! Finalizing the rear wiring is needed. This required a little more planning, a little more customizing, and a whole lot of mess!
Mounting the rear cockpit wall requires the trunk and cubby lighting and power to be finalized. First we had to determine the grommet size for the amount of wiring running from the cubby space.
- (1) wire for LED lighting
- (1) 8GA power wire for the subwoofer
- 2 sets of speaker wire
- (1) remote wire to turn on the sub
- A set of RCA cables for the audio path for the subwoofer
- (1) remote knob wire for the subwoofer gain
A 3/4″ grommet fits the bill nicely here. Next, we decided to place the hole in the trunk floor on the passenger size of the cubby. This will allow for flexibility in the cables, and provide enough space for storage inside the cubby as well. I really like the LED strips that I found on Amazon, I have one in the trunk, one in the cubby, and one in each footwell. These LEDs provide plenty of light! I added a 3rd brake light flasher which will add a little more safety on the CHMSL.
Trimming the carpet is a messy situation, the carpet frays quite a bit and gets all over the place. Definitely getting a nice set of carpet scissors to make this easier in the future. Installation is simple enough, spray on the 3M Hi-Strength Spray Adhesive 90 on the carpet, and also spray onto the surface, let it get tacky and put in place. Be careful to use gloves and a well ventilated area!
More split loom arriving today, and hope to get all the wiring chased from the rear to front. Once that’s done, the cockpit wall will be ready to install and move onto the next phase!
edit: Added the wiring in the last pic! Trying to get everything tidied up and labelled for any future troubleshooting. Fingers crossed, it will all work as tested!
