One of my first options I am choosing is to get a larger Boyd Welding MKIV Gas Tank for FFR Roadster. It’s well built, and fits perfectly into the MKIV space where the regular mustang tank would go. The only detractor is that you cannot do the drop-trunk mod as all the space is utilized above the tank, so it really minimizes the trunk expansion capabilities.
I received the tank a few months ago, and there is no doubt – it’s a work of art. Boyd’s team has excellent welding skills, and they really dial in for optimal fitment into the MKIV. I have included the Aeromotive Stealth 340lph #11542 fuel pump to feed the Coyote 5.0 engine. I then added the Classic Instruments SN38 0-90 ohm Range Fuel Level Sending Unit to the tank which aligns well with the digital fuel gauge that FFR provides.
Setting up the fuel sender was pretty simple, the tank is 11.5″ deep so a few tweaks so I could remove the extra bar and shorten the arm so it was setup for 11-11.25″ deep. I mounted the sender with the provided screws and felt pretty solid with the gasket provided.
The last photo shows the ‘Kleiner Mod’ that is known by Jeff Kleiner on the forums. He came up with a nifty idea to mount some nut connectors so you never have to get back in there again to fit up the quick jacks without monkeying around.
Here are the part numbers from McMaster-Carr for the Kleiner mod:
