Carpet is complete!

Carpet is complete!

This update covers the Factory Five carpet finish on Roadster #9772. The floors, footboxes, and dash surround are finally glued down.

Related notes live on the Factory Five Cobra build hub. Earlier carpet progress is in lower dash setup and more carpet.

Factory Five carpet: why this step felt big

What a satisfying step to finish the carpet! The interior is pretty much done. Next I need to affix the seatbelts and seats. Those seats stay temporary until the body is on.

Still, the black carpet changes the whole cockpit. Suddenly the car looks closer to a finished roadster than a rolling chassis.

Finished dash and cockpit views

Here are some pics of the finished dash, plus passenger and driver views after the Factory Five carpet went in.

Carpet material and glue I used

I used the 20oz Bassboat black carpeting and 3M Super 77 for the spray glue. The marine carpet cuts cleanly and looks right in a kit car cockpit.

Work in small sections so the adhesive stays tacky. Also, ventilate the garage. So glad to be done sniffing glue! LOL

What is left after carpet

Seatbelts and temporary seats come next. After that, more interior trim can wait until the body is back on the chassis.
