Now that we got the engine running properly, it’s time to check things that need the engine to proceed. From the A/C work done a few months back, I have tried to vacuum the system and I definitely have a leak, so I am troubleshooting the setup. My initial thoughts are that my crimps are solid, but the hose adapters may be the leak issue, but will find out soon!
- RT201B Nylog Gasket/Thread Sealant – recommendation to use this sealant from many sources, seems to be much better than the provided sealant in the kit
- Air Conditioning Compressor Seals O-Rings 270 pieces is a lot, but at least available so I can replace/upgrade any O-rings that may be damaged
- 1/4-Inch Female Flare by 1/4-Inch Male Pipe Thread Brass Adapter , this will be used to pressurize with air to test for leaks, not ideal as it will induce air/moisture, and will have to re-vacuum the system
One method to test is to use compressed air (or nitrogen if you can source it) to pressurize the system and listen for leaks. If I can get some refrigerant into the system, I can use an HVAC sniffer or UV dye to find leaks as well. Fingers crossed!
