Put about 7 hours in yesterday, and still feels like we’re miles away! I reached out to the forums to get some answers around the coyote wiring. Thanks guys! Steps below.
In the directions, I already cut the wire for the fuel pump between the fuse and the relay. We’ll re-use the EFI/COIL orange wire for the fog/driving lights – yay we keep a 15A circuit this way! We used the electric choke wire to the Coyote 12V+ ignition fed power wire labelled ‘toggle’ in our kit, the directions call it ‘trigger’- either way, it’s for the 12V power. The Blue start wire from the RF harness goes to the “SMR” wire on the Coyote. Wire dieted several segments of the harness to tidy this up as much as possible. Took a couple of hours of measuring, verifying, testing, measuring again, and then cutting and soldering wires with labels and heat shrink tubing. Come to think of it, it’s pretty easy to lose 7 hours doing this stuff!!
We also tackled finishing up the Digital Guard Dawg keyless start with GPS wiring. Several folks on the forums have used this setup. The PBS-I kit is not cheap, but it’s a solid setup to do keyless start! I opted for the Ford pushbutton as well, and got a vinyl overlay for the button, just so it sticks out a bit in the center console.
We have the main unit installed a few weeks back, but needed to finalize the GPS unit and the theft relay.
Here’s a behind the dash pic of the mount that was created and we placed the DGD main unit, the DGD relay, and the Ground and 12V bus bars on this panel as well. It’s getting a bit cramped back there!
My son did a great job making the pushbutton removable. This is something we’ve done for all 9 items in the lower console box using some crimp connectors and making some not so removable parts into removable, pluggable components. Just in case we need to service anything in the future!
While he was soldering, I moved to the engine bay to use some aluminum tape to seal up the Zero Clearance heat shield. This will keep the edges protected and gives the engine bay a more industrial look.
