It’s been a couple of months that I’ve been waiting for 4 small parts to get going on the IRS center section installation. Factory Five has a skeleton crew working during the pandemic, and they shipped these parts! YAY!

Now that these parts arrived, I could get to installing the center section! My son was at work so I took the recommendation from the forums to use some ratchet straps to get the 93lb monster into the chassis.

To safely get this off the ground, I used 2 ratchet straps and anchored them toward the front of the box. This setup would give the right support and leverage to get the center section off the ground. I put all 4 bolts into their respective mount points to ensure the straps didn’t slide off.

Once I got the center section up off the ground (it’s 93 pounds!) I had to re-position the straps a bit to get the right angles. The front of the section needs to go up and over the 4″ frame. I dropped the rear straps, and raised the front ones to position it better.

At this point, it took the help of a floor jack to support the weight while I slowly worked the section into place. I had to then move the rear straps a bit to ‘pull’ back and align the rear bolt sections. Once I got everything aligned, all 4 bolts were tightened to 100ft-lbs.

Super excited – because now the rest of the rear suspension can go on and finalize the rear brakes and start the ABS brake line planning as well as the parking brake lines.
