Have you seen my engine?
This update covers my Gen3 Coyote engine — the first real engine photo of it installed in the finished car.

Why I finally posted a Gen3 Coyote engine photo
I’ve never posted an engine photo on this site! Well, not one where it’s installed in the finished car. Can you believe that? Of all things — no engine picture! Someone online asked me “what engine” is in that Cobra? And I usually direct them to this site — so here ya go! The engine!

What’s in the Gen3 Coyote engine bay
Let me elaborate more on this photo. As you can see, it’s a Gen3 Coyote crate motor from Ford. I ordered it from Mike Forte at fortesparts.com. Mike is a great guy to talk with. He always has a great story to tell, or what’s happening in his neck of the woods (Massachusetts).
SB100 EGR hose for California
There is a simple modification needed for the car to be SB100 certified in California. SB100 lets you register the car as brand new (an “SPCN”), with a 1965 smog exemption. You can see the EGR hose on the driver side. It has to plumb back into the intake, and it has to be EGR-compatible hose. I think in all it’s maybe $30 of parts for the hose and the bung that fits into the intake. Of course you still have to do the light and brake inspection as well.
Trimmed and painted engine cover
The engine cover for the Gen3 Coyote is VERY WIDE. In fact, so wide that it needs trimming on the passenger side. I opted to trim both “wings” off the cover and have Ken Pike paint to match the car. He loved the idea, and I think it turned out amazing!
Here are the part numbers and links to the Gen3 Coyote engine and accessories added to the mix.

The Gen3 Coyote engine came mated to the transmission. I had to add on the A/C compressor, and the KRC Power Steering Kit. Throughout the site there have been posts about the Intake, Overflow Tank, hoses, heaters, Gen3 Cover Modification and paint, etc. But I’m glad to finally show off the engine!!!
