When you first setup your car, there’s a basic alignment that needs to happen. Obviously you don’t want to chew up your new tires, so the basic alignment is usually good enough to get you rolling and testing during go-kart phase. Obviously, you can buy a kit and do it yourself – but for a one-off setup, I opted to hit up a local shop and get it done for cheaper!

I took the car to two places, one was about a mile from my house – they put the car up on the rack and did some basic measurements but they weren’t really sure that they wanted to do it and asked for an insane $800 to tear out the front suspension and redo it all. We pulled the car off the rack and drove home. Needless to say, I reached out to my local FFR group and they suggested Big-O tires in El Dorado Hills. Chris and team have worked on dozens of these cars and were able to setup the car perfectly in about 1.5 hours! All for $129 🙂
I have to say, the car is a whole different beast now! Expansion joints and potholes don’t toss the car around and it tracks perfectly! WELL DONE Big-O!
One more note, Jeff Kleiner (famous cobra painter who auto-x’s all the time) suggests 22-23lbs of air in the tires. The car is so light that if you over-inflate into the 30psi range you’ll be riding on the center of the tires and not getting full contact! The more you know!!
