I’ve had the Wilwood Electronic Parking Brake kit for some time now, I actually installed the calipers a while back. On the MKIV you have to swap sides for the motors to properly clear the spring/shock assembly. It’s tight tolerance, but it DOES fit!
My son and I wanted to ensure the system fully worked prior to running all the cabling in the chassis. We had a bench setup with a small benchtop 12v battery, but it just didn’t produce enough “juice” to get the motors to work properly. So we opted to go with the Type 51 battery in the car and test again – voila! It works!!
The great thing about this step is that I was FINALLY able to torque down the IRS hubs. I have to say, the clamping force of this EPB is flat out amazing! All my weight on the hub and the brake didn’t budge!
Now that we know it’s working, we will be running the EPB lines and the ABS wiring together down the center of the car and start getting the ABS HCU wired up! PROGRESS!
