It’s been great to get to the point to add those finishing touches! Now that the car looks like “a car” I can do other stuff like add essentials, but also design adders. The rear view mirror and side mirrors are a must have, at least a driver side mirror. I opted for the Breeze Automotive billet mirrors. They’re pricey, but I got the driver side one from a local guy for $50 (brand new!) These mount on the wind wing mounts and they’re gorgeous IMHO. I like that they’re adjustable and the chrome matches the accents on the car.
Since the mirrors were going on, it’s time to do the wind wings and visors as well. Simple assembly, and nice looking parts from Factory Five! The visors and the rear view mirror mount, from Dark Water Customs (not closed), need a little mod to make them more user friendly and removes the possibility of cracking the windshield. Using square nuts in the top channel allows you to mount the visors and mirror into the channel – and not into the frame/glass. Using 8-32 square nuts with matching 8-32 flat top screws fits perfectly! note: some use 6-32 nuts and screws – they don’t need sanding – I used those on the visors!
Once the mounts are established, you simply screw into the square nuts and attach the visors and mirror mount. It’s simple, and much safer than screwing into the windshield frame itself.
Overall, simple process – a bit tedious sanding down the square nuts – there’s just such a minute portion of metal to remove to fit into the channels smoothly – highly recommend mounting this way!
