In all the work on the engine lately, we put the GASN Touring sidepipes back onto the car. Open headers are awfully loud, even with the catalytic converters installed. One of the tricks from the online forum is to use stainless bolts with brass nuts. The benefit here is that both the nuts and bolts are not going to rust, another benefit of using brass is that it’s soft enough to ‘lock’ on the stainless without requiring a locknut. It will come on/off but still hold when tightened down.
I got 2″ long bolts, thinking they were 2″ from tip to tip, but it was the threaded portion – so they’re a bit long IMHO, but they fit and work fantastically!
As recommended by Georgie at GASN, you can get smaller 5/8″ bolts for more ‘wobble’ room for alignment, not there yet – that will be post body installation.
Here’s the end result, they’re not fully tightened down yet, but they’ll direct the exhaust gases out the sidepipes for sure!
