Now that the roadster has arrived, the simple checklist is complete – 28 boxes and I’m thinking, oh this can’t be that bad… 3 boxes are on backorder, so let’s get started!
My son and I opened the manilla envelope with the POL (parts on order list) – this is a STACK of paperwork that has the contents of every box, and you have to inventory ALL of it within 45 days.
So, we found box #1, relatively small – but heavy! Each box has a mix of bags, all with numbers on them… we really feel bad for the guys at the factory who have to label, fill, seal all this stuff – but it’s brutally needed!
Accounting for each and every part is essential to be sure we have the correct parts to assemble! Here’s box #1 checklist DONE! Green is complete, orange means there were extra parts! Each page has a BOX# and the subsystems are numbered as well…
We thought hey, this was easy – let’s get box #2, well it was 2A – oh!?
Needless to say, this box took a lot longer! You have the BOX2A, and 14 subcompoents in the box! YOWZA! After this box, we decided to celebrate and grab BOX #5
Yup! That’s it! 1 part, the 10.5″ driveshaft… you can see how tiny it is compared to my drink cup! LOL
Upward and onward! We did 3 unboxings, BOX 1, 2A and 5. PLUS we also unboxed the 4 wheels – so we’re already 7 boxes in! Oh, and 1 more box that’s special to this car…
