My youngest son was working at America’s Tire and recently was leaving as he’ll be moving away soon to sunny Chicago (yikes!) Well, I opted to get some tires before he takes off so he gets some credit and I wanted a GREAT set of tires! Lo and behold, the Yokohama ADVAN A052 is the new crowning champion of the 200 treadwear tires. They’re in HIGH demand, so they had to be ordered directly from Yokohama, none in stock- and many vendors are selling them well above asking price! They do cost a little more than the standard tires you see on these cars… the regular suspects listed below…
I stopped by to pick the tires up today, because my car (and wheels) won’t be here for a few more weeks – but even the store said to get them now, so someone doesn’t buy them away from me in storage!
One of the techs brought out two tires, my jaw hit the floor – I knew they’d be big, but dang! And then I realized they were just the front tires and they’re only 265/35R18
The rears are absolute MONSTER sized! 315/30R18… The tech asked “what the heck are these going on!?” I told him a Cobra, and he laughed and said “It still won’t be enough” PERFECT!
